"Wild Honey Pie" grew from some improvisation that the band had at the Maharishi's retreat in India.

This song was recorded completely by Paul McCartney only when he got bored in the studio while all the other band members were out.

There was some uncertainty about adding this song to the album, but George Harrison wife Patti (nee Boyd) liked it, and it led to the inclusion.
