"Hate How Much I Love You" is his first new release as a solo artist in four years. He said about his new meterial, "It's been around five years since I released my last solo original material, and it feels like I've been through just about everything to finally get this music out so people can hear it. I was 19 when I released my first album, and even though I'll always be proud of that music, this new material feels like it really comes from me."

This song is based on a romance with her former girlfriend, Victoria. Conor Maynard explained, "It's about the beginning stages of a relationship where you are infatuated with that person. However, the relationship ran its course after two-and-a-half years but we had a house, pets and cars together. The only thing we didn't have was children. We basically grew apart. I knew our split was for the best and, as much as it sucked, I learned a shit ton from it."

The music video for this song was directed by Conor Maynard himself.
