"The Gypsy Boy" lyrics
"The Gypsy Boy"
The Gypsy boy sat thinking on the happenings of late
Smiled on his future, worried on his fate
And the sky it opened up and the rain came down as hail
"Its colder than I thought" he said, somehow it never fails
So he pulled himself together, and to shelter he did go
There stood a Gypsy girl, in out of the snow
Well he looked back to the hail stones fallin' to the ground
Back to the Gypsy girl standin' there snow bound
Well she did not say a word to him, but she looked him in the eye
Wondered to herself as he sat down there nearby
"How can it be this Gypsy boy ain't covered up with snow?"
Did not let it bother her for she did not care to know
Well he offered her his hat and she silently smiled no
To take more than a hat she thought to warm me from this snow
But she offered him a slicker from where she made her bed
But he turned it down without a sound and put his hat back to his head
Now all night long and to the day their weathers they did storm
The Gypsy boy and Gypsy girl huddled to keep warm
Not a word between the past, not a small hello
Each intent on keeping from the hail or the snow
As the sky was clearin' they stood and looked around
He walked east, she to the west, neither made a sound
Down the road each stopped again lookin' back to from where they came
And the Gypsy boy he cried a low, and the Gypsy girl the same
