"'Creature of Habit' is about someone who feels addicted to the habit a relationship, even though they're not truly happy in it," JoJo said of this track, "Having experienced my own cycles of habits allowed me to find aspects of myself in the lyrics."

Speaking with EW.com ahead of the season 5 finale of "The Masked Singer" show on the 26th of May, 2021, JoJo told about this track, "It's the first taste of a new era for me, and of leading with the same fearlessness that allowed me to say 'Yes' to the show, and just not taking myself too seriously, continuing to be vulnerable, and to hopefully connect with other human beings, because that's my favorite thing in the world to do. That's what I love to do. When I'm on tour, I just love people, and I love how music can bring us together. So I just want to continue to do more of that."
