Critics noted the similarities in sound between this song and his previous hit "Sorry" though they stated that this song has a more pop direction than his other solo hits with tropical house vibes.

BloodPop worked together with Justin Bieber before on his album "Purpose" (2015), in particular on the hit single "Sorry" which also had influences from electronic dance music like this song.

BloodPop explained the origin of this song to Billboard, "The demo of it was kind of like a chill, laid-back vibe, and we were trying to write it for another artist. I can't remember who it was." But then "...Bieber heard it, and then Bieber kind of finished it and - much like the other songs on the last album where it came together very fast - it was like a whirlwind, and all of a sudden it worked out."
