"Electric" is a musical collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Katy Perry to commemorate the franchise's 25th anniversary. The company announced it on the 13th of January 13, 2021. The song was released on the 14th of May, 2021. Katy Perry explained, "When I visited the Pokémon Café while touring Japan, I got so nostalgic. It took me back to my junior-high years. So when I got the call to be a part of the 25th anniversary celebration alongside Post Malone and J Balvin, I was elated. The song's themes—resilience, igniting your inner light—have guided my life and also parallel Pokémon's story and characters."

Katy Perry told in an interview with People Magazine about this collaboration, "I love being a part of anything that is playful and is good storytelling and has really good messages to share with the world. Now having a child myself, I understand that it's so important to play. This is a continued extension of who I am. [...] I've been going to Japan since I was 17 every year and have always really loved everything that's been created there."

The music video for this song, published on the 14th of May, 2021, features Katy Perry and Pikachu going back in time of which she said, "Pikachu is the evolved form of Pichu, so in the video, you see the younger version of me with Pichu and myself in the present day with Pikachu. We both evolve, yet retain a sense of playfulness."
