At Lauv's shows he asks people to submit notes in a glowing blue box about whatever's on their mind or whatever they're feeling in that moment. This song was inspired by an anonymous note left in that box: "I met a superhero. I lost her. I want her back."

It was revealed later that the author of the note was a guy named Martin, from Germany. He was in Boston, visiting a girl named Diana, but they had a fight, so he attended Lauv's concert alone and wrote the note about her.
