"Broken One" lyrics

"Broken One"

We grew up so differently
You had one house, one back yard, one Christmas tree
You didn't split your time, didn't wonder why, like me
When I met your momma, I met your dad, damn, its cool to see that
Love can last 'cause I never knew till I was loved like that by you

You coulda seen too much work
All the missing pieces
Someone who's gonna leave
'Cause I come from leaving

Coulda seen my past
Took at look at my baggage
And packed yours up and run
But you saw a home
In a girl from a broken one

She has my eyes and has your nose
But thank God she never has to know
What it's like to grow up picking sides

You coulda seen too much work
All the missing pieces
Someone who's gonna leave
'Cause I come from leaving

Coulda seen my past
Took at look at my baggage
And packed yours up and run
But you saw a home
In a girl from a broken one

Yeah, my raising wasn't perfect
But the girl you saw was worth it

You coulda seen too much work
All the missing pieces
Someone who's gonna leave
'Cause I come from leaving

Coulda seen my past
Took at look at my baggage
And packed yours up and run
But you saw a home
In a girl from a broken one
You saw home, sweet home
In a girl from a broken one

"Broken One" is the second single off of RaeLynn's album "Funny Girl". The song was premiered on March 10, 2023, accompanied by the music video.
RaeLynn co-wrote the track with Justin Morgan and Jason Duke. She commented on it, "The idea behind this song stemmed from thinking about life after being raised in a divorced home. What happens after the 'Love Triangle'? That's 'Broken One'--finding a love that can break a cycle. I truly believe that God can fix, heal and restore. I have so many friends that grew up like me and found an everlasting love. I love the realness of this song."
