"Joshua's Song (Songs With Pride)" lyrics

When I opened up and told my parents about my sexuality, me being gay
My dad did not like it so he told me, "You either go away from my house
And never come back here or I will call the police"
Society and the authority is not allowed to be gay in Uganda

One day we'll tell bedtime stories
About that some love was a crime on our streets
And we're all gonna think it's crazy
Teach your kids about it, then go to sleep
At least that's what I hope for
(At least that's what I hope for)

You know one day this will be history
Like a scary tale in some book that we read
And all because there's heroes just like him
None of our love will be called a sin
At least that's what I hope for
(At least that's what I hope for)

Love is weightless, but it weighs a lot on some shoulders
Love is priceless, but some pay with their lives for it
Love is honest 'cause we love who we love, don't we?
Yeah, we love who we love, don't we?

We love who we love, we love who we love
We love who we love, yeah, we love who we love, don't we?
We love who we love, we love who we love
We love who we love, yeah, we love who we love, don't we?

One day they'll look back in regret
That some love had to be kept a secret
And people's gonna chill for at the thought
That some people in love counted as more
At least that's what I hope for
(At least that's what I hope for)

Love is weightless, but it weighs a lot on some shoulders
Love is priceless, but some pay with their lives for it
Love is honest 'cause we love who we love, don't we?
Yeah, we love who we love, don't we?

We love who we love, we love who we love
We love who we love, yeah, we love who we love, don't we?
We love who we love, we love who we love
We love who we love, yeah, we love who we love, don't we?

Sweden is very different from Uganda
I feel good and people were welcoming
They told me it is okay to be gay here
People were telling me to be proud to be gay, to be open
And it's good here
