"Mourning" was surprise-released just ten hours following its announcement on the 8th of September, 2026, accompanied by the music video. The visuals (co-directed by the band's guitarist Mike Stringer) is unlike their usual black-and-white videos from the past.

This standalone single is Spiritbox's first new release since their second album, "Tsunami Sea". The band released "Mourning" just days prior to their 2026 UK and Europe arena tour with Jinjer and Dying Wish started on the 12th of September, 2026, and continued through the UK before hitting mainland Europe.
