This song was written from a patient's point of view. He's dying of cancer and describes his deteriorating conditions. He also feels regret that he will soon leave his close friends and loved ones.

The band's frontman Tyler Joseph recalled speaking with Rock Sound magazine, "The one thing that stood out to me was the lyric 'I will not kiss you.' [...] When I first heard the song that was the line that hit me the hardest and stayed with me. [...] It made me feel that I could highlight one of my favorite lyrics and then it became kind of a chorus, in a sense. Hopefully we did the song justice."

Tyler Joseph posted a 13-seconds-long clip of this cover in January of 2016. The Twenty One Pilots released the song as a YouTube video on the 13th of September 2016.

This cover is a down-tempo electronic track whilst the original song by My Chemical Romance features a driving piano and heavy vocals.
