This song was premiered during the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on the 26th of September 2012. It was digitally released the following day as the lead single from the album.

The song's lyrics have a different theme than those from Rihanna's previous singles which were often about rocky and uneasy relationships. This time she sings about love as something precious.

"Diamonds" was on top of music charts in many countries, including the United States. It became Rihanna's twelfth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 there.

The music video for this track shows the singer in several places which represent air, earth, water and fire.

This song was certified five-times "Platinum" by the Recording Industry Association of America for sells of over 3.5 million digital copies in the country. It is one of the best-selling singles of all-time.
