"Next Up Forever" first appeared on the album's trailer. The song was also teased on social media starting eleven days before its release.

Ryan Met said in an Instagram live-stream about this track, "I think it's one of the most important things we've ever made. It sounds like nothing I've ever heard before and that makes me really excited."

The line "Right now, they're just walking around me" is a reference to the album's cover art, where the band members are portrayed as the small cartoon-like figures, while people pass them by.
