The release of "Some Kind Of Disaster" was preceded by a series of cryptic teases on the band's social media. Their Twitter posts on the 8th and 15th of January 2020 revealed possible new logos shown through distorted video fragments.

All Time Low announced this song on Twitter on 01/21/2020 with a video snippet and the message which said in particular "It's been hard to keep our mouths shut. Hope you dig this new song as much as we do... After all, it's all for you". The song and its official video were published on the same day.

The band said about "Some Kind Of Disaster", "It's a song and dance we've done a thousand times before, but this one feels extra-good. Besides, it's never the same dance twice."
