"Promiser" lyrics
Bear's Den & Ciaran Lavery Lyrics
"Promiser"
I have read every book that there is to read
About love and how difficult it can be to keep
I've pulled my heart out to every song
Learned the words and sang along
Memorized the affirmations and each meaningful dedication
Turned my back on each distraction
Learned the difference between affection and lust
Prepared myself the best I can to understand
To know when quiet time is good
When to make coffee, learn to cook
I started lifting heavy things so that I can protect you
But to know when I should, and when it is I do not have to
When to be vulnerable and let you kin
I've been to therapy and I think I'm making some inroads there
I do believe that I can follow through and not just be
A Promiser
I've organized all of my days, responsibility is new to me
You'll be glad to hear I take to change pretty naturally
I work hard and I would be so proud of you
I have capacity to open up my little world, I do not stay out late
During the week, and I am keen to never treat you like you're weak
And I have morals that are strong, though saying that they're malleable
I'll know when quiet time is good
When to make coffee, learn to cook
I started lifting heavy things so that I can protect you
But to know when I should, and when it is I do not have to
When to be vulnerable and let you in
I've been to therapy, I think I'm making some inroads there
I do believe that I can follow through
And not just be
A Promiser
A Promiser
A Promiser
