"Sabotage" is the third single from Bebe Rexha's second studio album "Better Mistakes". The song was premiered on April 16, 2021. Speaking with the People magazine about the album, Rexha also mentioned this song as well, "The whole album is based off of actual insecurity. My mental health, self-love, me sabotaging everything in my life, am I good enough for this relationship? [...] It was really just taking the real-life stuff that I'm going through, which is really important for me to write about."

Speaking to Variety in October 2020, Bebe Rexha described some of the songs off of her then-forthcoming album "Better Mistakes" by saying, "Whether it's the song 'Sabotage' or 'Break My Heart Myself', which talks about my mental illness, or songs about my jealousy and trust issues with relationships, or me thinking that I'm going to fuck up everything in my life—most of the album follows this theme."
