"Fast Forward" lyrics

"Fast Forward"

Inwards, outwards
What is it that I see, is it all
Coming back to me?
But it's different
I see right to the other side

Ain't we getting tired?
I say we change it up
Ain't we getting tired?
I say we change it up
Over, over, over again

I wanna really change the way
And now I gotta be alone
How else can I see this sight
And now I gotta be alone

(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Does it even matter?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Ain't we getting tired?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
I say we change it up

Another year, another place
In someone, in someone
In someone else's room
Fast forward, life is on
Yeah, I'm on fast forward

Ain't we getting tired?
I say we change it up
Ain't we getting tired?
I say we change it up
Over, over, over again

I wanna really change the way
And now I gotta be alone
How else can I see this sight
And now I gotta be alone

(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Does it even matter?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Ain't we getting tired?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
I say we change it up

I say we change it up
(I say we change it up)
I say we change it up

I wanna really change the way
And now I gotta be alone
How else can I see this sight
And now I gotta be alone

(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Does it even matter?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
Ain't we getting tired?
(Hey-hey, hey-hey, hey-hey)
I say we change it up
I say we change it up

"This song is about getting out of a certain state of mind. Not wanting to think about or look at a current situation, relationship or particular person right now. We are never really stuck, and my subconscious was telling me this while I wrote the song. I wasfeeling like some much-needed alone time and craving change. I was listening to a lot of H.E.R. and Sabrina Claudio at the time. I’ve always loved rnb music and that’s just what we ended up creating with this one. It feels sexy, natural and honest to me." - Benji Lewis
