"The Narcissist" is the lead single from the Blur's album "The Ballad Of Darren", the band's first full-length in eight years following 2015's "The Magic Whip". The song was premiered on the 19th of May, 2023. Damon Albarn told about their new music, "This is an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now."

Graham Coxon commented on this track, "The older and madder we get, it becomes more essential that what we play is loaded with the right emotion and intention. Sometimes just a riff doesn't do the job."
