Bob Dylan recorded this song in New York City with a group of studio musicians including Al Kooper, Charlie Daniels, and Ron Cornelius. Al Kooper later made a cover of the song.

Ed Ward wrote for Rolling Stone magazine in their 1970 review of the "New Morning" album, "Speaking of lyrics, who among us would have thought that we'd see the day when Bob Dylan would start out a song with "La la la la la …?" I've never heard Dylan sounding so outrageously happy before."

This song was featured on the soundtrack for the cult film "The Big Lebowski" (1998). Jeff Bridges, who played the main character, performed this song at Lebowski Fest held to commemorate the film.

Joe Cocker made a reggae cover version of this track for his album "Stingray" in 1976.
