"The Worst Country Song Of All Time" lyrics

"The Worst Country Song Of All Time"
(feat. Toby Keith & HARDY)

This is the worst country song of all time
And it goes

I hate beer and honky-tonk women
I don't eat deer and I can't stand fishing
And I don't know the words to Family Tradition
Folsom Prison, or Walk The Line
And I think sweet tea is overrated
And all dirt roads were made for paving
Yeah, this is the worst country song of all time
And the chorus goes

I love cities and traffic jams
I don't want a house on a piece of land
I deserve a bunch of money and a minivan
But I don't wanna earn a dime
Old Yeller didn't make me sad
I think we should change the American flag, yeah
This is the worst country song of all time

The second verse goes
I think trucks are a waste of gas
If you disagree, we'll cancel that, 'cause
My momma never whipped my ass, huh
Guess she never tried
Man, stick a fork in the constitution
I support Kim Jong-un and Putin
Yeah, this is the worst country song of all time
And the chorus goes

I love cities and traffic jams
I don't want a house on a piece of land
I deserve a bunch of money and a minivan
But I don't wanna earn a dime
Old Yeller didn't make me sad
I think we should change the American flag, yeah
This is the worst country song of all time

And the bridge goes
I'm too good for solo cups
Your momma's homemade fried chicken sucks
Boots ain't made to get scuffed up
How you like that saxophone?
Yeah, my neck ain't red and John Deeres are blue
And you're as country as caviar if you think that's true
And this song's a joke but if it ain't for you
I know your favorite song
And it goes like

I love cities and traffic jams
I don't want a house on a piece of land
I deserve a bunch of money and a minivan
But I don't wanna earn a dime
Old Yeller didn't make me sad
I think we should change the American flag, yeah
This is the worst country song of all time

Writer(s): Hardy, Brantley Keith Gilbert, Hunter Phelps, William Bradford Jr Weatherly
According to Brantley Gilbert, "The Worst Country Song Of All Time" started as a joke. He said to Taste of Country Nights couple of days after the song's release on the 18th of June, 2021, "I think Hardy and I, and Toby, are all still kinda waiting on the phone call from somebody, going, 'Obviously, we were kidding — we're not putting that song out.' That phone call has yet to come."
Brantley Gilbert, at first, didn't believe that Tody Keith would take part in the recording of this track. "It was definitely a thought," Gilbert said about Keith joining him. "You know, you have pipe dreams when you're writing every now and again ... and his name came up. [...] We felt like we needed an old-school vet with the stamp of approval. I think having Toby on it makes it semi-okay. It doesn't feel like country music blasphemy quite yet."
