Chet Faker told NME about "Get High" in February 2021, "Sometimes you just need a break. I find myself wanting to escape just for a little while and the song sort of showed up on its own."

Speaking with Australian radio station Triple J, Nick Murphy, the man behind "Chet Faker" nickname, told about this track, "The world just needs to relax right now… everyone needs to chill out. That's what the song is; it's kinda funny and silly. I just want people to just vibe out… take a little exit in whatever fashion they find appropriate."

The line "Hi, there's a package here for you, please come down" is a snippet of a voicemail from a food-delivery driver. Chet Faker explained, "I was vibing out so much that I forgot to check my phone and this dude was trying to deliver food."
