"St. Michael's Blues" lyrics

Woke up this mornin'
The blues all around my bed
Woke up this mornin', baby
The blues all around my bed
You know the socks I put on last night were black, baby
This mornin' when I woke up, they turned to red

Oh baby
What you done to my Marks and Spencer's socks?
Oh baby
What you done to my Marks and Spencer's socks?
You go changin' my footwear like that, woman
You know our night's gonna end up on the rocks
Tell 'em about those socks, mama

Woo
Wah-ha
Go and get a pair of your own socks, baby

Opened up the wardrobe
Looked for my shoes in there too
Opened up the wardrobe, woman
I looked in there for my shoes too
Lord, last time I looked at them shoes, woman, they were blue
I guess you painted them a different hue

Woke up this mornin'
Blues all around my bed
Woke up this mornin'
Blues all around my bed
The socks I put down last night were yellow
But my baby painted 'em red
You know she did, yeah

Told you one time, baby
Ain't gonna tell you again
Ooh, told you one time, baby
Ooh, I ain't gonna tell you again
You ain't gonna keep stealin' my expensive socks
And givin' them to your man friend
You know they're from Marks and Spencer's
They's good socks, baby

Lord, they're Marks and Spencer's socks
Lord, they're so good, those socks (Oh yeah)
They come all the way from Marks and Spencer's, yes
Go and keep givin' my socks away, baby
I'm gonna take a gun
I'm gonna take a knife
I'm gonna take my socks and stuff 'em right in your head
Oh yeah, they're Marks and Spencer's socks
