Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti wrote the music for this song. He explained in an interview for songfacts.com, "'One Last Breath' is one of my favorite guitar lines. So, it's one of my favorite musical compositions for Creed. It's a song that turned out to be one of our biggest songs we ever put out."

This track was released as a double A-side single with "Bullets" in the UK where the single peaked at number 47 on charts.

The music video shows the band in a fantastical surroundings made of high rocks, crumbling cliffs, enormous statues and dust storm.

This song reached number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
