This track served as the 2005 World Children's Day Anthem. Destiny's Child were global ambassadors for its 2005 program.

Beyoncé Knowles said about the inspiration to record this song, "The kids we've met have no idea how much they've given us. We wanted to record this song for them, in hopes that people would hear their voice through ours."

"Stand Up For Love" became Destiny's Child's first single that failed to chart not only in the United States but also in any other music chart.

The song was performed on World Children's Day at Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles in November 2005.
