"Muzzle" is the first song by Destroy Boys after signing with Hopeless Records. The song was premiered on February 16, 2021, accompanied by a
music video. The band expressed the following about the song and its visuals on Twitter next day,
"Thank you one billion times to Olive Lagace for the video, Martin Cooke for engineering and mixing, and to everyone on our team & at the label for their support. We are so thrilled to be working with such a great team of people at Hopeless."
Violet Mayugba of Destroy Boys commented, "I wrote this song in the first month of 2020, pre-pandemic. I had just turned 20, and I was feeling so intimidated by adulthood, relationships, and the mortifying ordeal of being perceived. It's the first Destroy Boys song I've sung lead on... and I couldn't be more grateful."
A press release stated about this song,
"The new single 'Muzzle' is a blistering track exploding with aggression and energy, produced by Martin Cooke (Death Cab For Cutie, Of Monsters And Men, and producer of Destroy Boys' last LP Make Room). The song tackles feelings of being seen as disposable and subhuman, feeling out of control and taking your power back. It's an anthem for the unseen, written by Mayugba, and inspired by a toxic relationship where she was mistreated by a man she was in a relationship with."
