"Friends In The Corner" lyrics

"Friends In The Corner"

We were younger then
We were half the age
We could see it all
Through a careless sense
My friend

Was it all an act
Was it just pretend
Does it hurt to see
How our smiles have changed
My friend

I took it all for granted
I lived it like a dream
I was always the first person you called when you needed me
Everything is changing
And this is how it's got to be
But how can something so beautiful leave me so desperately

All of my friends in the corner
Everybody's looking like they need someone
Together we're not getting older
But everybody's looking like they need someone

All of my friends in the corner
Everybody's looking like they need someone
Together we're not getting older
But everybody's looking like they need someone

So let's misbehave
These out troubled days
When my home was yours
We were always safe
My friend

I took it all for granted
I lived it like a dream
I was always the first person you called when you needed me
Everything is changing
And this is how it's got to be
But how can something so beautiful leave me so desperately

All of my friends in the corner
Everybody's looking like they need someone
Together we're not getting older
But everybody's looking like they need someone

All of my friends in the corner
Everybody's looking like they need someone
Together we're not getting older
But everybody's looking like they need someone

Do you need someone?
Do you need someone?
Everybody's looking like they need someone

Do you need someone?
Do you need someone?
Everybody's looking like they need someone

All of my friends in the corner
Everybody's looking like the need someone
Pretending we don't fear the morning
But everybody's looking like they need someone

Do you? Do you? Do you?
Do you? Do you? Do you?

"Friends In The Corner" is the third single from Foxes' third studio album. The song was premiered on September 1, 2020, accompanied by a music video.
Foxes explained that this song had been inspired by a weekend spent with friends: "It might have been the age we were at, but everyone's hidden struggles came to the forefront and it made me realise the older we get sometimes the more fragile we become. It really hit home that we shouldn't take each other for granted and we've really got to look out for our friends. It's becoming more and more apparent that we all suffer from mental health issues on some level and at different times in our lives. There really shouldn't be any stigma around this anymore."
