"Cicada" lyrics
"Cicada"
You're everything I'm thinking of
From time to time and dust to dust
Whenever there's a lull between the void
You fill the silence
Languid on the couch
Think I need to figure this one out
I'm lost beneath your cloud
Cannot keep my two feet on the ground
Wake me
I'll love you tomorrow
You leave
Me breathless and hollow
Lately
A tough pill to swallow
But I'll try to compose
I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
I could get lost in pillowed dreams
Caught in a stitch of what could be
Careful our time's not what it seems
So shake this one off and dance with me
We're dancing through the house
Think we need to figure this one out
Shaking like a loose leaf from the spout
I think we need to think on this one
Wake me
I'll love you tomorrow
You leave
Me breathless and hollow
Lately
A tough pill to swallow
But I'll try to compose
I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
I could be someone you should get to know!
I could be someone you should get to know!
I could be someone you should get to know!
I could be someone you should get to know!
Wake me
I'll love you tomorrow
You leave
Me breathless and hollow
Lately
A tough pill to swallow
But I'll try to compose
I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
(I could be, I don't know, someone you should get to know)
Oh, I could be, I suppose, someone you should get to know
Someone you should get to know

According to Good Kid's Jacob Tsafatinos, "Cicada" is the fastest song in the album. He shared it in Q&A video stream. Speaking about the album in general, the Toronto collective said about their new music, "This record is the most unfiltered and uninhibited we've ever been. There are many things on this record that are irreproducible, sounds and methods that made each and every take totally unique. We made some risky choices, so now we have to own them."
This song introduces the new character Ada. Good Kid wrote on Instagram on the 5th of March, 2026, while posting a cover artwork of the single, "...the newest character in the Good Kid universe! We first introduced her during the Eastside MV last month…or you might even recognize her from a mysterious exorcism kit website. Keep your eyes peeled for more Ada soon!"
The cover artwork was created by Gabriel Altrows who said about working with the band, "I've had the privilege of leading the creative for prolific indie outfit Good Kid. We've collaborated on everything from album covers, animation, video game design and custom sneakers together."
