"Never Enough" lyrics

Loren Allred Lyrics

"Never Enough"
(from "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack)

I'm tryin' to hold my breath
Let it stay this way
Can't let this moment end
You set off a dream in me
Gettin' louder now
Can you hear it echoing?
Take my hand
Will you share this with me?
'Cause darling without you

All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough

For me
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never enough
Never enough
For me
For me
For me

All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough
Never be enough
Towers of gold are still too little
These hands could hold the world but it'll
Never be enough
Never be enough

For me
Never, never
Never, never
Never, for me
For me
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
Never, never
Never enough
For me
For me
For me

For me

Though Rebecca Ferguson plays Jenny Lind (the opera singer called "The Swedish Nightingale") in the film, but Loren Allred's voice is used when Ms. Lind performs on stage.
In the film it's clearly seen how P. T. Barnum (played by Hugh Jackman) is amazed by Jenny Lind's success. Partly it's because he wants more than to be a director of a circus. The performance and the subsequent tour also show that it's not enough for her to be the famous singer because she needs someone by her side. That's why it is "never enough" for them.
