In those five years, I neglected friends, relationships, women, my family, myself and most importantly, God
Regret settled in and I was left carrying the heavy weight of, "What if?"
Envy, hatred, greed, lust, these became my masters
The craving for more power was what moved me forward
On the surface, I had everything
As the world quoted my songs and danced to my music, they couldn't see the real raging inside of me
I withdrew, seeking deeper into anxiety and depression
I realized then, my success meant nothing
The dream I had sacrificed so much for, poured so much emotion into, felt hallow once it became real
On the outside everything seemed to change, but
Inside, inside, nothing did
My spirit and the spirit of those around me remain untouched
I hated the world for looking down on me
But once that hatred drained out of me, it was like watching smoke vanish into thin air
And with it, everything else inside of me disappeared too
