"Gnarly" is the first KATSEYE's comeback since the group's debut in 2024. The single was released on the 30th of April, 2025, accompanied by the music video.

"We want people to feel the vibes, to really connect with our music," the group said about this release in a statement. "'Gnarly' feels true to us—it's bold, it's fun, and it shows a different side of what we're about. It feels good to share more of that as we grow alongside the EYEKONS." EYEKONS is the name of KATSEYE'S dedicated fandom.

According to KATSEYE's community manager, "...'Gnarly' explores an artistic side to KATSEYE by pushing boundaries and serving a bold and unpredictable sound. This track showcases the group's attitude and confidence through unapologetic vocals and audacious lyrics."
