Stephen Garrigan wrote this song to express his feelings after a break-up with his girlfriend. He told The Sun, "The breakup was two years before. It takes some people longer to get over stuff. Every word is autobiographical. It was pure hell."

"It's intensely personal stuff," explained Stephen Garrigan to The Independent saying, "It's like opening your diary and passing it around for judging. 'All I Want' is basically a letter to my ex-girlfriend. Every song has its own story."
