"Stuck On You" lyrics

"Stuck On You"

Stuck on you
I've got this feeling down
Deep in my soul
That I just can't lose
Guess, I'm on my way
Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess
I'll be with you till the end
Guess I'm on my way
Mighty glad you stayed

I'm stuck on you
Been a fool too long I guess
It's time for me to come on home
Guess I'm on my way
So hard to see
That a woman like you could wait
Around for a man like me
Guess I'm on my way
Mighty glad you stayed

Oh, I'm leaving on that midnight train tomorrow
And I know just where I'm going
I've packed up my troubles
And I've thrown them all away
Because this time little darling
I'm coming home to stay

I'm stuck on you
I've got this feeling down
Deep in my soul
That I just can't lose
Guess, I'm on my way
Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess
I'll be with you till the end
Guess I'm on my way
I'm mighty glad you stayed

The fourth single from Lionel Richie's album "Can't Slow Down" (1983), it was released on the first of May of 1984.
Unlike the usual Lionel Richie's style, this song was influenced by country pop rather than by R&B, and it marks the singer's debut in country music. That's why he is wearing a cowboy hat on the single's cover.
The single of this track reached number 3 in the US charts and number 12 in the UK. This song also peaked at number 24 on the country chart in the USA.
Trevor Walters made a very successful cover version of this song in 1984, only three months after Lionel Richie's release. It was so good that it went higher than Richie's original on the UK Singles Chart.
3T covered this song in 2003. It was the first single from their album "Identity". They also made a "...Smooth Remix" of it.
