"The Conversation" lyrics

"The Conversation"

You don't get to tell me that I shouldn't try
I won't give up as easy as I did last time
I know what you are thinking, I can see it on your face
And this ship might be sinking but I, I won't go out that way

Cause my bones are made of love
Strong enough to keep both our hearts afloat
So I'll save us both the conversation, the worried minds, and confrontation
I won't give up, I will not leave him
You have to stop, I will not give in

He told me he would leave her, that I just have to wait
But I guess you had to be there since you can't relate
And you don't get to say that I'm lying to myself
Cause this is my decision and it's, it is my lie to tell

Cause my bones are made of love
Strong enough to keep both our hearts afloat
So I'll save us both the conversation, the worried mind, and confrontations
I won't give up, I will not give in
You have to stop, I will not give in

And so I'll save us both the conversation, the worried minds, and confrontations
I won't give up, I will not leave him
You have to stop, I will not give in

Writer(s): Olav Tronsmoen, Maria Mena
"'The Conversation' is about a group of friends who try to act when they discover that one of them is in an unhealthy relationship. But the one who is at stake is simply not listening; when you've convinced yourself that something so difficult is worth doing. But I've learned that some things are so difficult simply because they weren't meant to work," explained Maria Mena.
