"Whiskey And Rain" is the lead single from Michael Ray's third studio album with Warner Music Nashville. The song was premiered on September 28, 2020, accompanied by a performance video.

"I miss story songs that you have to listen to all the way through to understand. This song is everything I love about country music – traditional Country music, like Tim McGraw and Earl Thomas Conley, and I want to bring that back," said Michael Ray of "Whiskey And Rain", "This is the music I originally came to Nashville to make, and I'm grateful to have this opportunity for fans to get to know me better as an artist."

While announcing the release of this single on Instagram on the 25th of September 2020, Michael Ray posted its cover art, an audio snippet and the message, "It was a country song that made me pick up a guitar and move to Nashville ten years ago. With this new music we're making, I tried to remind myself that I'm just as much of a fan of traditional country music today as I ever was.... and we're bringing it back y'all!! I hope you hear the influences I grew up on when you listen to this song."
