When released on the "Decade of Decadence 81-91" compilation album in 1991, this song was entitled "Home Sweet Home '91" because it was remixed again for that release. The original remix was used for promotion of the single in 1985 and was later released on the Japan-only EP "Raw Tracks" in 1988.

The original video for this track incorporates episodes filmed live in Texas during the 1985 Theatre of Pain tour: at The Summit in Houston and at Reunion Arena in Dallas. The song was performed twice in Houston for the purpose of videotaping.

The music video for this track became famous for spending three months on the MTV request chart.

Carrie Underwood made a cover of "Home Sweet Home" in 2009.
