"Malibu" lyrics

"Malibu"

In all my doubt
In all my weakness
Can you lead?
I fall behind
But like you promise
You wait for me

I feel a spirit move in me again
I know it's the same spirit that still moves in you
I don't know how it took so long to shed this skin
Live under the shadow of your wings

You are all I want
You're all I need
I'll find peace beneath the shadow of your wings

I'm still afraid
I said too much
Or not enough
You'd only see
The ghost still rising
A broken touch

But walking through the valley was what brought me here
I knew I would never make it on my own
And I don't know how it took so long to shed this skin
Live under the shadow of your wings

You are all I want
You're all I need
And I'll find peace beneath the shadow of your wings

Walking through the valley was what brought me here

You are all I want
You're all I need
And I'll find peace beneath the shadow of your wings

And I'll find peace beneath the shadow of your wings

"Malibu" is the opening track and the second single from Mumford & Sons' album "RUSHMERE". The song was released on the 18th of February, 2025. The band co-produced it with nine-time Grammy-award winner Dave Cobb. According to the band members, the uplifting song intrinsically resonates with their core identity and musical roots. "'Malibu' was the first song we wrote when we got back together in Los Angeles in January 2023," Marcus Mumford said in a press statement. "The song just felt like us, and the process of recording it with Dave captured it on record in a way that made us feel it had to open 'Rushmere'. We love it."
