"Champagne Supernova" lyrics

"Champagne Supernova"

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'Cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'Cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high [repeat until fade]

Writer(s): Noel Gallagher
The title of this song came to Noel Gallagher when he was watching a documentary about champagne. The second word came to him from the misheard name of the Pixies' album "Bossanova".
Guest guitar and backing vocals on this song are provided by Paul Weller, former frontman of The Jam.
Noel Gallagher said about the song's lyrical content in the NME interview on the 30th of September 1995, "That's probably as psychedelic as I'll ever get. It means different things when I'm in different moods."
Noel Gallagher's house in North London is named "Supernova Heights" after this song's title.
