"Black Summer", released on the 4th of February, 2022, was the first Red Hot Chili Peppers' single with John Frusciante in almost 16 years, and their first song in almost 6 years. The band teased a snippet of the song through a video posted on their Instagram account on the 2nd of February, 2022. The video showed Frusciante and Flea jamming in a studio.
