"The Cold" lyrics

"The Cold"

Why do we write this poetry? It's only words
We're fixing capable of actions they deserve
But if you write them and you're still alive
And your heart is working right
You run to be with me here
But you stood right there
So don't, yeah you didn't care at all
I was only scared and I froze
Standing there forever
Waiting in the goddamn cold

I write the songs I want to sing
I pass the radio like someone wrote them just for me
In a parking lot we cried, let the napkin dry our eyes
You could run, you could be here by my side
But he calls and makes you smile
And he tells you it's all right
While I'm standing here forever
Waiting in the goddamn cold
