"The Blind Spot" lyrics
Apollo Brown & Skyzoo Lyrics
(feat. Elzhi & Blu)
You first met me from sewing a flag together and pushing to carry that one in
Playing Grace Wisher, stitching up where the patches went
I'm the grace wisher, my rookie year was the catalyst
Then saw magic, flagpoles turned into javelins
Bet that, like everyone who bet on me to start with
Is counting up their return and how it turned for them regardless
My spot been on reserve in the rafters like I was Cochise
Your fave check on it for me when they be in the nosebleeds
My résumé, double entendres like if the letter "A"
Was turned on its side and you pronounced it open wide
There I go again, being the symbol of what I always been
Couldn't pay me to change, so they paid me to flow for them
That'll work, my first session mixing a starter pack
First taste, I'm Ryan Coogler, I got involved with that
And the so-called blind denying what I resemble
My Fear of God catalog's from tagging up Essentials, real shit
See me now, see me later, see me never
But look around and bet you'll see me forever
Better views if you moved from where you at
Don't act like you ain't knew what you knew, son, you knew that
See me now, see me later, see me never
But look around and bet you'll see me forever
Better views if you moved from where you at
Don't act like you ain't knew what you knew, son, you knew that
Only seven thousand sold, yet it's known all over the globe
"Below The Heavens" was elevators and sending out a steppingstone
Bless the flow beside my heroes like Thought and Kweli
Already got a glimpse of the person I thought that I'd be
Immediately signed with Warner in '09
I got a label and movie deal and thought it was my time
But two years with no motion left me to go independent
Not knowing Warner was my only real ticket to leave a big dent
Fans forgot about me and my streaming numbers dropped
Dropped project after project, people screaming that I flopped
I can never top my debut, but all that time I stayed true
Laid truth no matter what color they try to paint Blu
I can't do the mumble rap, I can't rock the coke flow
I came from the Black Stars, the De La's, the cold flow
I know folks forgot about me, but I drop heat nonstop
You probably didn't see me 'cause the industry keeps me in their blind spot
See me now, see me later, see me never
But look around and bet you'll see me forever
Better views if you moved from where you at
Don't act like you ain't knew what you knew, son, you knew that
See me now, see me later, see me never
But look around and bet you'll see me forever
Better views if you moved from where you at
Don't act like you ain't knew what you knew, son, you knew that
When others dreamt of pushing IROC-Zs down I96
Bagging items at IHOP, my dream was far from identical
I wanted itinerary show dates
Went on an island of the Ivory Coast and another in Ireland
You clones are iRobots, the Iron Man, it's ironic you're ice cold on me
When your idols see me, it's iconic
Through my eye gates, I identified your idle mind
It's not one isolated incident that got me irate, so
It's eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, we don't see eye-to-eye
I'll put your body of work in ICU
If I were off an IPA like an Irish holiday
I couldn't pierce the eye of the storm with the eye of the tiger
'Til I saw through the industry's ideology
That the fruit of my labor's the apple of their eye
The IRS taxes American pie
But they'll be haunted by the name Elzhi
Spell it out with me, E-L-Z-H-I
Keep one open for me
See me now, see me later, see me never
But look around and bet you'll see me forever
Better views if you moved from where you at
Don't act like you ain't knew what you knew, son, you knew that
See me now, see me later, see me never
