"Undivided" lyrics
Tim McGraw & Tyler Hubbard Lyrics
"Undivided"
You see Billy got picked on in school
For things, he couldn't change
He tried his best to play it cool
But in the seventh grade, you either fit right in or you don't fit
That's just the cold hard truth
I wish that I'd have been the friend that Billy never knew
I think it's time to come together, you and I can make a change
Maybe we can make a difference, make the world a better place
Look around and love somebody, we've been hateful long enough
Let the good Lord reunite us 'til this country that we love's undivided
Yup, you either go to church or you're gonna go to Hell
Get a job and work or you're gonna go to jail
I just kinda wish we didn't think like that
Why's it gotta be all white or all black?
And when we gonna learn to try on someone's shoes sometimes? (That's right)
When we gonna start to see from someone else's eyes?
I think it's time to come together, you and I can make a change
Maybe we can make a difference, make the world a better place
Look around and love somebody, we've been hateful long enough
Let the good Lord reunite us 'til this country that we love's undivided
Oh yeah
Undivided
Oh yeah
And we're all the same to God, no matter what we get His love
I'm tired of looking left or right, so I'm just looking up
I think it's time to come together, you and I can make a change
Maybe we can make a difference, make the world a better place
Look around and love somebody, we've been hateful long enough (Hateful long enough)
Let the good Lord reunite us 'til this country that we love's undivided
C'mon
Oh yeah
Undivided
Oh yeah
You either go to church or you're gonna go to hell (Oh yeah)
Get a job and work or you're gonna go to jail (Undivided)
I just kinda wish we didn't think like that (Yeah baby)
Why's it gotta be all white or all black?

Tim McGraw said to Variety about "Undivided" in January 2021, "The song speaks to more of the social contract that we have with each other. It's not about politics. It's about how we're supposed to treat each other."
Tyler Hubbard began writing this song when he was on quarantine after having been tested positive for COVID-19 in November 2020. Upon the song's release on the 14th of January 2021, he stated,
"Cheers to looking at all humanity with love, compassion, empathy, and grace. Thank you Lord for this song and this message. Thank you @thetimmcgraw for believing in this song and asking me to feature on it. Thanks to the whole team and my boys @coreycrowder and @chrisloockeguitar for helping me write and produce this. I'm so honored."
Tim McGraw told a little about the background of "Undivided" in a post on Twitter on the 5th of January 2021, "Tyler sent me this song a few months ago and from the first time I heard it… I knew it was one I wanted to be singing for a long time. We got together in the studio last month and created something real special. Hope y'all agree when you hear it!! #UNDIVIDED coming Jan. 13th."
