"Stand Up" lyrics

Stand up, stand up
Stand up, stand up

On her back they stack so many labels
Spit on the cards, she lays on the table
Saying that she's worth less than the others
That she deserves the stress that she suffers
She's unable to heal, we can't see
Being unheard, devalued and unseen
One queen, on a search for a lost crown
Locked down, disempowered and boxed out
Nothing more than a slur and a scapegoat
People make jokes, disrespectfully hate folks
Would you say something? Step in her shoes
What if all of the disdain was directed at you?

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

He was young when he learned he was different
People seem so afraid to just listen
They drink in his size and his features
And baptize him with lies like he's a creature
That can't be trusted or appreciated
Inebriated by the shortcuts we created
Just another man cast as a villain
By every jaded heart that's unwilling
To cast away the hatred inside us
Life hits harder than all the sweet science
Who weighs the worth of all without bias?
Would you join them or add to the silence?

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

Who is the hero? Who is the enemy?
What is the colour of love? Where is the energy?
When do we seize the time? Why bother to?
How do we open the doors we need to follow through?
All together we ignore or we acknowledge
Each person under a mask we can demolish
An illusion we grasp like it's a solid
Object we can worship or abolish
Will we bow down to the inner idols?
Or break cycles, short cuts and fake titles?
Crystallize the libels that make rivals
Emancipate ourselves or stay tribal

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

You can sit down
Or you can stand up
Stand up, stand up

Stand up, stand up
Stand up, stand up
