This song was written by John Lennon when he was trying to deal with the fame issues during Beatlemania. Lennon expressed his frustration about the matter which led to a melancholic mood of the song. The USA release of the album "Beatles For Sale" even omitted this song as too depressive, and it was released as the B-side of the single "Eight Days a Week" there.

The song has a touch of country and sometimes is considered as one of the early examples of country rock. George Harrison played a guitar solo using his Gretsch Tennessean guitar whose sound was expanded to make it clear and bright.

Originally the song should have been sung by Ringo Starr, but then John Lennon decided to sing on his own piece of work.
