"Colder Than You" lyrics

"Colder Than You"

I found a note on the fridge
Said, "I'm sorry, this just ain't workin'"
And since you ain't here
And there's frost on the beer
I guess you weren't talkin' 'bout the Frigidaire, girl

Nah, you never liked my mom
Or my dog or my friends
And the worst is
I never said one word
When you told me to turn down the Merle
(Mmm, mmm, mmm)

I might've finally found something colder than you
Well, I'm happy as hell and hell, it helps me raise it
Took your goodbye and hell, it done erased it
Girl, I ain't drownin' your memory
These mountains are all that's in here getting blue
Baby, I might've finally found something colder than you

Oh, we're better together
And that's something they never once said when they talked about us
But it don't leave a note, but it's runnin' out
It just leaves a buzz, you ain't here to kill now

But I might've finally found something colder than you
Well, I'm happy as hell and hell, it helps me raise it
Took your goodbye and hell, it done erased it
Girl, I ain't drownin' your memory
These mountains are all that's in here getting blue
Baby, I might've finally found something colder than you
(Ah-ooh, uh-ooh, ooh)

Well, thank God you left me
A twelve pack of cold ones
'Cause that's all that I ain't ever
Gonna get tired of holdin'

Ah, 'cause I might've finally found something colder than you
Well, I'm happy as hell and hell, it helps me raise it
Took your goodbye and hell, it done erased it
Girl, I ain't drownin' your memory
These mountains are all that's in here getting blue
Baby, I might've finally found something colder than you

Yes, I did
Colder than you (Woo!)
So much colder, baby
Colder than you

Canaan Smith co-produced "Colder Than You" with Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line. Smith explained, "We wrote 'Colder Than You' a little over a year ago, and I just kept coming back to it. To me, this song leads with its lyrics, and as a songwriter, that's something I always look for. I love the clever wordplay – I've always been a sucker for that – and I'm just really proud of how country it feels, overall. Hope everyone who's been in a bad break-up gets a laugh out of this one and enjoys listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it."
