"Staying Outta Jail" lyrics

"Staying Outta Jail"

Here's a story about a failed trip to the post office
Through Oklahoma

There's a man who stands on the corner
With a sign that says I work for beer
I always try not to notice
But I know he knows I know he's there
And it's always an awkward moment
I don't know why I care
He's riding high eating good and staying out of jail

Well, the woman who works at my post office
I swear I think that woman is a man
Sometimes it almost scares me
Hell her hands are bigger than I am
But she's always got a real big smile
I think there's something going on down there
She's riding high eating good and staying out of jail

There's a certain amount of freedom
When you realize everything is in doubt
And if half the weight to heaven
Is still just half the way to hell
Keep riding high, eating good and staying out of jail

I got this friend we all call him Stoney
Some people say he don't live right
Sometimes he drinks in the morning
And he stays up cooking grass at night
But you ask him how things are going
He just laughs like it's all in the air
Says hey I'm riding high eating good and staying out of jail

There's a certain amount of freedom
When you realize everything is in doubt
And if half the way to heaven
Is still just half the way to hell
Keep riding high, eating good, and staying out of jail
Keep riding high, eating good, and staying out of jail
Keep riding good, eating high, and staying out of jail

Stoney was a good old guy
We miss you Stoney
See that guy on the corner?
Give him a dollar, give him a smile
Give him a 6 pack of beer, Cold beer
Give your mail carrier a tip at Christmas
Give her a smile, be careful on your way
Keep riding high, keep eating good, and stay out of jail

Good between the lines
Fly away friend
See you later Stoney
