"What Ever Happened To Heroes" lyrics

"What Ever Happened To Heroes"

Tell me what ever happened to heroes
The men who rode tall and shot straight
And just when you thought the outlaw had won
They'd ride in, saving the day

But the world's not a black and white western
Like we watched back on grandpa's TV
It's all burning down, the Duke's in the ground
And outlaws are making the laws in D.C.

I still like to think that the cowboys are holed up
Bandaging wounds, making plans to return
One of these nights, they'll ride in, clouds of gun smoke
Giving those bad guys what they deserve
It could happen, I suppose
But tell me what ever happened to heroes

Maybe it's time to grow up
And stop thinking that help's gonna come
Pull up our boots, and do what we have to
Then chase that sunset when the battles are won

I still like to think that the cowboys are holed up
Bandaging wounds, making plans to return
One of these nights, they'll ride in, clouds of gun smoke
Giving those bad guys what they deserve
It could happen, I suppose
But tell me what ever happened to heroes

I still like to think that the cowboys are holed up
Bandaging wounds, making plans to return
One of these nights, they'll ride in, clouds of gun smoke
Giving those bad guys what they deserve
It could happen, I suppose
But tell me what ever happened to heroes

It's up to us, I suppose
Maybe we're next in line to be heroes
