The lyrics "if the sun refused to shine" and "when mountains crumble to the sea" were taken from a Jimi Hendrix song "If 6 was 9".

Record producer Rick Rubin has noted this song's structure saying, "The delicacy of the vocals is incredible; the acoustic guitar and the organ work together to create an otherworldly presence."

Led Zeppelin was a big influence for Tori Amos, so that she made a cover of this song on the extended versions of her "Crucify" single.

This song was recorded by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant for their "No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded" album in 1994.
