Ur högarnas fuktiga djup, under himlens blick
Till vargars ekande yl, träder klarhet fram
Ur nattens källa, strömmar de åter fram

Nattväsen, urväsen från skogarnas djup
Gråbens vandring i korpögas blick
Nattväsen, skuggväsen från jordens djup
Nattens eviga urkraft...

Stjärnklädda skepnader sveper ned
