John Deacon, who wrote this song, was influenced by the Chic song "Good Times".

Brian May told in an interview with Mojo, "Freddie sung until his throat bled on Another One Bites The Dust. He was so into it. He wanted to make that song something special."

The "Another one bites the dust" line quite clearly says "...Decide to smoke marijuana" when played backwards. It is heard especially clear toward the end of the track.

Michael Jackson suggested Queen to release this song as a single, when he visited them backstage after a gig at the Los Angeles forum. Roger Taylor told Q magazine in December 2009, "Michael and all his brothers were all going, 'That's a fantastic track. You must release it.'

This track was used during production of the film "Rocky III", but the producers could not get permission to use the song. Sylvester Stallone had to hire Survivor to write an original song, which would be known as "Eye Of The Tiger".
