I've tried to write this rhyme a million times
Or maybe I'm just killin' time
I'm blinded by what I had built in my mind
I'm cryin' like I spilled the milk and the wine

And I've always been observant
Curiosity tryin' to learn what's behind the curtains
And I'm certain insecurity's the perfect encouragement
Even brain surgeons have a limited purpose
I saw the writing on the wall when it was written in cursive
Look, I can't imagine I could spell it any clearer
If I bluntly tried to tell you how we got from there to here
Its atmosphere and I'm surprised that we survived another year
To speak through the speakers it keeps creepin' nearer
To the day I disappear to the other side of that mirror
I guess my voice is all that I got to offer
So you gotta make a choice to avoid your own obstacles
Probably feels powerful, huh?

I always thought I was an ugly child
I still remember the struggle of tryin' to love my smile
Without a promise to my pocket, just the words I compiled
And whatever else they got up in my personal file

I'm not embarrassed to admit when I considered myself
A supporting character, I barely cared about the script
And now my kids got me starin' at my fridge
Like I better go out and produce a bag of asparagus
Don't wanna be a failure as a parent again
Don't nobody wanna die broke and in debt
Gotta fly towards the sun, but stay close to the nest
And I ain't sayin' nothin', but I hope it connects
And it doesn't really matter whether or not you ever open the text
No stress, just growth and progress
And I imagine that I'm way far past my halfway
This graveyard is like an ashtray
We generate mistakes until the final escape
